Feel the Smell™

My name is Rebecca Stephens.  All I've ever wanted, in this lifetime, was to Feel Good.  In 1986, I was 11 years old and it was the first time I decided suicide was an option for me; leaving this reality seemed better, to me, than staying.  I did not know how to cope or deal with everyday life situations, the ups and downs we encounter, and no one to turn to for solutions or help.  I began cutting myself to get through the pain of anxiety and stress.  I know now, I was addicted to trauma and drama in order to get through because it was a way of hurting myself too; and it was a cry for help.  I am a recovering Trauma & Drama Addict.

In 1994, I became pregnant.  Me and my body rejected the pregnancy as if it were something foreign going on inside of me.  I became uncomfortably ill.  On April 8th, 1995 Selina Rae was born.  I was sick and all systems were failing.  She seemed to be fine and healthy as she entered this world.  We had no idea what was in store for us.

Then, in the summer of 1995, I was diagnosed with Clinical Depression and panic disorder anxiety (the kind that sends you to the emergency room because your heart is beating outside of your body).  I was on a cocktail of prescribed pharmaceutical drugs - Prozac, Xanax, Wellbutrin, Zoloft and many more just to get through the day.

When Selina turned 2 1/2, in 1997, we noticed her belly was extremely distended.  The tumor popped out of her one day as if she had swallowed a grapefruit.   We fought her cancer and despite our best efforts, in August 2000, she died in our home.  After her death, I went on a rampage of alcohol, drugs, and bad decision making.  I was killing myself from the inside out.  Sometimes, I ponder and realize:  "It's kind of a miracle I'm still alive."  And now I know why... We are All magical beings and necessary.  Our energetic imprint is like a fingerprint on the Whole of Everything that exists.

In 2006, I became pregnant with my son Quinton.  I sobered up, took myself off ALL my prescribed medications and drugs.  A hippie friend suggested I try Essential Oils for my depression and anxiety.  I knew nothing about them, at the time.  I was attracted to Patchouli and Bergamot Essential Oils, instinctively, and they seemed to help!  (I later learned:  Patchouli and Bergamot are known for their chemical constituents that aid in depression and anxiety relief.)

Quinton was born with a stomach valve sensitivity.  When he was an infant, he was prescribed a medication with Peppermint Essential Oil in it to soothe his tummy.  I was surprised!  I knew then there was something more to plants and plant-based (medicinal) options.  It took me awhile to figure out how to make different choices using plants, essential oils, meditation, better thinking habits, food, and exercise to help me and my family get health and stay healthy.

I began researching how essential oils were used to help with depression and anxiety, colds, flu, Quinton's stomach issues, stress, burns, cuts, bruises, and more.   At the time, it was not easy to find information regarding the oils.  My continued interest led me to begin studing Aromatherapy with Aromahead Institute and other sources.  I became a Certified Aromatherapist and continue my education daily with the plant chemistry, carrier (fatty oils), herbs, spices, teas, salts, and more.

Stay ahead of the 8 Ball:  My ultimate goal is to assist, educate, and empower my clients in their own self-healthcare discovery, staying healthy (not getting sick), as well as, helping relieve symptoms for those who are already going through some kind of illness or disease.  It is also my passion to educate others about alternative options and utilizing Essential Oils as an alternative or in addition to prescribed medications.

My family and I no longer use any pharmaceutical or over-the-counter medications in our daily lives, unless we have to.  We converted all of our cosmetic, bath, and cleaning products to safe, natural, non-toxic products.  I make most of them myself.

As an Aromatherapist, I study and have studied chemistry, anatomy, and physiology, herbalism, (fatty) carrier oils, spices, food, and more.  I am here to teach you how to fish.  A lot of what I do, you can do too.  I offer private consultations and research, classes, workshops, personal education, and more.  Please, click on the 'Contact Us' link or email me at rebecca@dropbydropapothecary.com to set up a consultation or ask me a question.
